Pingplotter Guide
This guide shows you the installation- and configurationprocess of the tool Pingplotter,
please follow the steps below and record approximately 2 hours of your connection to the
euRO servers. At the end of this guide you will get to know where to send your recordings to enable
us to evaluate your connection data and perhaps we can give you hints on how to improve your Routings to our servers.
1. Downloading
First you have to download Pingplotter. As Pingplotter is available in several versions ( Standard, Professional and Freeware),
we decided to use Pingplotter Professional for optimal results. To download this version you have to follow
this Link. The download should be completed in a few
seconds depending on your connection speed. Please keep in mind where you save the files of Pingplotter Professional, so you can retrieve it after finishing the download.
2. Installation
The installation is started by doubleclicking Setup ( as depicted ). The Setup guides you through all steps necessary to install Pingplotter Professional.
Having installed the tool successfully you should find a Pingplotter symbol in your starting menu ( look at your task bar ). The
installation is completed by clicking "complete setup" in the installer.
3. Configuration
Now you have finished half of this guide. Next is configuring the tool to "focus on us".
Start Pingplotter Professional by clicking Start, Programs, Pingplotter Pro, Pingplotter.
Pingplotter will start in an instant and await your commands. When you have done everything correct until now you should see this window:

The screenshot above shows numbered markers, which illustrate the sequence of steps needed to "tell" Pingplotter where to ping. Please follow these steps:
| 1 |
Change the setting - Samples to include - to ALL ( by clicking the upper arrow several times ),
continue the configuration by executing step 2
. |
| 2 |
This setting depends on your connection type and cpu speed. A setting like 2,5 sec
is okay if you have got a cpu from 1000 MHz and higher and a broadband connection with around 512 kbit per second.
If your lagging increases by pinging our servers that fast, try 5 sec instead. |
| 3 |
The option Numbers of times to trace decides how often Pingplotter can ping our server successively. As neither we
nor your provider got a so-called ICMP-Limit ( Standard in Europe ), change this setting to unlimited.
Pingplotter will continue his work until you stop him. |
| 4 |
After starting Pingplotter for the first time this list already contains several Target hosts. Given the fact
that we just need the host of the euRO server, please delete all entries in this list. You can do this by clicking on the first entry,
pressing the shift key and clicking on the last host. Now you can perform a rightclick on the selected hosts and delete them by clicking delete. |
| 5 |
Now you are able to enter www.euro-ro.net in the section Address to trace. This is mandatory to get the euRO host in the list of hosts to watch ( previous step ).
If you are up to use your installed Pingplotter for a further time you are able to leave this step out, given the fact that the host www.euro-ro.net is already in the list below. |
| 6 |
Now start Pingplott by clicking Trace. Congratulations, you have completed the most important and difficult parts of this tutorial by now.
Please help us to achieve the best results with your connection log by doubleclicking every entry in the Hop-list ( in the upper right of your Pingplotter - as seen on the image below this table ) so that every number is underlined. Now you can run the Pingplotter for 2 hours
while playing on euRO or just vending afk.. |

After you stop the Pingplotter ( per click on stop )you can save the completed Pingplot by clicking on: File, Save as image....
Please choose at the option File-Type the PNG-Format and save the Pingplot on your harddisk to prepare sending it to us by mail. Pay attention to insert the picture as an
attachment to the eMail, to ensure that we receive this file properly.
The eMail-address to which you should send the file ( if possible with the name of your provider, your account-id and a short explaination of your lag problems )
( Spikes / Freezes / WoE ? ) is:
technology@euro-ro.net
As a Subject please use LAG + a subject of your own choice, the LAG prefix is necessary to forward your email immediately to the responsible GMs.
Have fun on euRO and thank you very much for your cooperation.
